The Corporate Group at Turner Parkinson had a record 2011 having advised on 22 deals worth an aggregate of £266m. The department also saw turnover rise by 21% from 2010 levels. The eight person team advised on various acquisitions and disposals, private equity buy-outs and several development capital and public markets projects. Most recently, in December Turner Parkinson advised £180m turnover packaging company Logson Group on its refinancing with Barclays and HSBC. Other headline deals in the year included advising jewellery chain Warren James on its acquisition of a 28% stake in film studio Pinewood Shepperton, Shield Therapeutics on its €8.2m venture capital fundraising and the private equity funded management buy-out of Wirral hose manufacturer Dantec. New client wins included Indian automotive conglomerate TVS Group, rugby brand Canterbury of New Zealand, pharmaceutical development company Phosphate Therapeutics, AIM quoted Instem Life Science Systems and Plant Impact and the North West Fund. The team was also involved in a number of international transactions in 2011, including projects in USA, Abu Dhabi, South Africa, Switzerland and India. Partner James Sheridan commented: ‘It’s a tough environment at the moment and I don’t see that changing quickly. But we have a high calibre, hands on team focussed on the regional mid-market which is seeing decent levels of deal activity. We hope to build on 2011 by continuing to provide the highest quality corporate finance legal advice from our niche firm environment.’ To contact a member of the Corporate Team call 0161 833 1212. |
