The North West Fund for Development Capital

The North West Fund for Development Capital is supported by the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).  The £45m North West Fund for Development Capital is one of six specialist funds, together totalling £185m, available for SMEs based in, or relocating to, the North West.

The North West Fund for Development Capital is managed by YFM Private Equity Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of YFM Equity Partners Limited.  YFM Equity Partners has been specialising in transforming small businesses for over 25 years.  With investments in over 200 companies in the UK, and over £375m of committed funds, they have achieved over 100 successful exits to date. 

Examples of funding include;
investing in new equipment or innovation, development in new markets or geographies, expanding workforce, working capital funding. 

Fund highlights;
investments from £100,000 to £2m in North West SMEs.  Provides investment capital to support business expansion in circumstances where a business is already generating trading income and positive cashflow.  Covers a broad business sector range and provides a range of equity based packages and mezzanine finance. 
There are two funding options available as part of The North West Fund for Development Capital;

Mezz - for mature and cash generative businesses

A predominantly loan based product plus an option to purchase a small equity shareholding providing up to £2m of funding.  Loan repayable up to seven years, interest of 12% per annum.  Participating dividend once loan has been repaid.  Option to acquire up to 10% of the equity. 

Equity - for fast growing businesses
A predominantly equity based funding product for businesses with long term growth potential providing up to £2m of funding.  A mix of ordinary share investment and loan notes.  Ordinary share investment via a minority stake with loan repayable up to seven years.  Flexible structure.
